Morehead State Engineering Tech earns top ATMAE accreditation

Morehead State University is proud to announce the successful completion of an accreditation review by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). The ATMAE visiting team concluded its on-site visit in mid-April. It will recommend to the ATMAE Board of Accreditation that all Morehead State engineering technology and engineering technology management programs be accredited for the maximum allowable term of six years with no further action required.

The recommendation applies to the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology Management (BS‑ETM), Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BS‑ET), and the Master of Science in Engineering Technology Management (MS‑ETM), including all program options. The visiting team cited full compliance with all 12 ATMAE accreditation standards across seven programs and tracks, a significant achievement that reflects the quality, consistency, and outcomes of Morehead State’s engineering technology and engineering sciences programs.

The visiting team’s recommendation is reinforced by strong student success and workforce outcomes within the Engineering Sciences (ES) programs. All the ES programs currently report graduation rates exceeding 80 percent, with students admitted to the programs holding an average GPA of 3.36. Graduates have demonstrated exceptional career outcomes, including 100 percent job placement across four concentration areas, with 83 percent of graduates reporting promotions or salary increases within the past year.

“These outcomes are a testament to the efforts of our engineering faculty who strive to continually improve our programs through curricular adjustments and assessment in collaboration with stakeholders, students, and industry needs,” said Dr. Jen O’Keefe, chair of the Department of Engineering Sciences.

The Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering is the primary accrediting body for undergraduate technology management programs in the United States. Completion of an ATMAE-accredited undergraduate or graduate program ensures that degrees meet nationally recognized quality standards established by professional and technical societies, assuring students, employers, and industry partners.

“This is an extraordinary affirmation of program quality and relevance,” said Dr. Ahmed Zagari, dean of the College of Science & Engineering. “The ATMAE team’s recommendation for maximum accreditation without conditions, coupled with exceptional student success and career outcomes, reflects the strength of our faculty, the preparation of our students, and the value of a Morehead State engineering technology education.”

The final accreditation decision will be confirmed upon the ATMAE Board of Accreditation's formal action. Upon approval, the six‑year term will further strengthen Morehead State University’s standing as a leader in applied engineering, technology management, and engineering sciences education.
