Morehead State regents approve major campus projects

The Morehead State University Board of Regents approved personnel, academic, financial and facilities-related actions during its meeting on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The board began the meeting by recognizing students, faculty and staff for their achievements and service to the University.

As part of the consent agenda, the board approved:

  • Minutes from the March 27, 2026, meeting
  • Personnel actions
  • Recommendations for promotion to professor and emeritus status
  • Coaching contract extensions
  • College mission statements
  • The University organizational chart
  • Disposal of building signage and plaques
  • Authorization for the Kentucky Division of Water to conduct remediation work at Eagle Lake

The board also approved the University's amended operating budget, fee schedule and personnel roster, along with several asset preservation projects and improvements to the Space Science Center HVAC system.

Among the meeting's major actions, the board authorized the University to begin construction of a third new residence hall, approved the disposal of the Lloyd-Cassity Building and Cartmell Hall, and approved the issuance of bond refunding.

MSU President Dr. Jay Morgan provided updates on matters affecting the University and its continued growth and development.

Board Chair Dr. Sanford Holbrook (Class of 1997, 2003, 2006, 2025) recognized outgoing regents Chris McClurg (Class of 1997, 2001), Thomas Clem (Class of 2025) and Dr. Joyce Stubbs (Class of 1979, 1981) for their service to the University.

The board also recognized these nursing students:

  • Cassandra Parker (Class of 2022, 2023), a graduate student from Morehead
  • Maci Woods, a senior from Hazard
  • Winston Williams (Class of 2026), Maysville

The board also honored Joe Labadie, locksmith in Facilities Management, and retiring Dean of the College of Science & Engineering, Dr. Ahmad “AZ” Zargari, for their contributions to Morehead State.

The next scheduled meeting of the Board of Regents is Friday, Aug. 7, 2026.
