Morehead State earns College of Distinction honor for fifth year

Morehead State University's commitment to student success has earned it a national honor for the fifth time.

Morehead State University continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering excellence and value in higher education, earning recognition as a College of Distinction for the 2026–27 academic year. This prestigious honor, awarded to MSU for the fifth time, highlights the University's dedication to providing an exceptional undergraduate experience defined by hands-on learning, strong student-faculty relationships, an engaged campus community, and successful student outcomes.

“Earning recognition as a College of Distinction for the fifth year speaks to Morehead State’s unwavering commitment to student success and academic excellence. This honor reflects the meaningful, hands-on experiences our students receive and the dedication of our faculty and staff to preparing graduates for successful careers and lives of purpose,” said MSU President Dr. Jay Morgan.

This 2026-27 recognition highlights MSU's continued commitment to providing outstanding academic programs and student support.

U.S. News & World Report named Morehead State University the #12 best public regional university in the South. MSU has also been elevated to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a Research College and University for 2025 and named a community-engaged institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
