Morehead State recognized as a Top Yellow Ribbon School for veterans

Morehead State University continues to be recognized as a leader in serving veterans and military-connected students, earning a top designation as a Top Yellow Ribbon School. The honor reflects MSU’s ongoing commitment to providing the support, resources and opportunities veterans and active-duty service members need to achieve their academic and career goals.

U.S. Veterans Magazine has recognized MSU as a Top Yellow Ribbon School for 2026. This is just one year after the publication recognized the University as a Top Veteran-Friendly School.

"Morehead State provides dedicated staff, support, and resources to all active duty, military dependents, and veterans who choose to continue their education here. This recognition is the result of a very intentional, comprehensive approach to serving this population across admissions, academics, and overall campus culture," said Jen Timmermann (Class of 2003, 2007), director of adult and transfer admissions. "We're proud to serve all military-affiliated students and are honored that they've chosen to study at MSU."

Each year, U.S. Veterans Magazine conducts a national evaluation to identify institutions and organizations that go above and beyond in supporting veterans and transitioning service members. These lists serve as a trusted resource for those pursuing a college education.

Morehead State University has a long-standing reputation for supporting veterans, active military personnel, and military-connected families in their pursuit of a college education. U.S. News & World Report ranked MSU in its list as a Best College for Veterans in the South, and the University was named a 2026-27 College of Distinction for Military Support.
