Foundation Board Chair Perry Allen Invests in Student Success at MSU
For years, Perry Allen (Class of 1983) has invested in opportunities that help Morehead State University students succeed. Through his philanthropy and leadership on the Morehead State University Foundation Board, Allen remains committed to ensuring future generations of Eagles have access to the same life-changing opportunities he experienced as a student.
"I've served on the MSU Foundation Board for, most likely, more years than anybody ever has, and I'm very proud of that," said Allen. "Being exposed to all the people that have served on the board over the years, but also the different ways they each have helped Morehead State University and chosen to, through service and monetarily. Each donation within the foundation plays a role in helping students, and that's important to me."
Allen's commitment to giving back spans more than 15 consecutive years of support for Morehead State. Through contributions to the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity Academic Achievement Endowment, the Eagle Athletic Family Fund and other initiatives, he has helped create opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom.
His sustained generosity has earned him membership in the Loyal Eagle Club, which recognizes donors who have supported MSU for at least two consecutive years. For Allen, that recognition serves as a reminder that his gifts are making a difference in the lives of students. He said knowing he has helped even one student during their time at Morehead State makes his support worthwhile.
"It means helping others, supporting people that need to know somebody's there to help them further their education, but not just education, also further their life, which is what Morehead State University is about," said Allen. "You come for an education, but hopefully when you leave, you leave with a whole lot more. Similar to how I felt when I left and still feel today."
With less than a year remaining in his second term on the Foundation Board, Allen hopes his legacy will be a reminder that supporting others is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things anyone can do.
"The legacy that I want to leave is helping other people, helping students and the people that work here at Morehead State University to continue to grow and develop in their profession," said Allen. "Helping students know that you're leaving a lasting impression of helping people that they will then want to help others themselves."
