Morehead State College of Education hosts inaugural Regional Educators Rising Conference
Morehead State University will welcome aspiring educators and school partners to campus for the inaugural Regional Educators Rising Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC).
Hosted by MSU's Ernst & Sara Lane Volgenau College of Education, the conference will provide an opportunity for high school and college students to engage with practicing educators and learn more about the many opportunities and areas available within the teaching profession.
"As the leading teacher preparation program in the region, we are committed to advocating for the profession and inspiring more high school students to choose teaching as a profession," said Dr. Nicola Mason (Class of 2007), dean of the Volgenau College of Education.
Educators Rising is a national organization focused on developing and supporting future educators. The organization provides students with opportunities to explore careers in education, develop leadership skills, gain classroom experience and connect with others who share an interest in becoming teachers. Kentucky schools have incorporated Educators Rising into broader "Grow Your Own" efforts designed to encourage students to consider teaching as a career.
The upcoming Regional Educators Rising Conference is expected to bring together more than 250 high school students. It reflects MSU's continued commitment to supporting future educators and building strong partnerships with schools and communities throughout the region.
"The regional conference at Morehead State will build on that mission by creating a space for future educators to envision themselves as professionals in the field," Mason said. "For Morehead State, the conference represents another opportunity to strengthen partnerships with regional schools and support the development of the next generation of educators."
Registration for the Regional Educators Rising Conference is currently open through Sunday, Oct. 18.
