Visual Authenticity Guidelines

All faculty, staff and students whose photographs appear on official University websites, departmental pages, directories, news articles, publications or other University-managed digital platforms must use an approved headshot produced or authorized by the Office of Communications & Marketing.

The following are not permitted for official University use:

• Self-taken portraits (selfies) or other non-approved photographs.
• AI-generated images.
• Images that have been substantially altered using artificial intelligence or image-editing software.
• Images that materially change a person's appearance, age, facial features, body shape, complexion, hairstyle or other identifying characteristics.
• Filters, enhancements or effects that create an unrealistic or misleading representation of an individual.

Reasonable editing performed by the University, such as color correction, cropping, exposure adjustment and minor retouching, may be permitted provided such edits do not materially alter a person's appearance.

Faculty, staff and student employees may schedule an official headshot session through the Office of Communications & Marketing.
