Scholarship Application & Eligibility

Alumni know that students at Morehead State University will receive a quality education and well-rounded residential campus experience.

Alumni also know that the next generation of Eagles will be supported through their educational journey by a caring community of faculty and staff dedicated to student success.

Eligibility Requirements

• The Alumni Family Scholarship is open to all incoming freshman matriculating directly from high school and current MSU undergraduate students.
• Students must be full time (registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester).
• The applicant must be a relative of a degreed alumna/alumnus of Morehead State University. Qualifying alumni relatives include parent, grandparent, stepparent, legal guardian, child or spouse. 
• The applicant must complete the MSU Foundation Scholarship Application and finish the additional steps to verify their alumni relative status.
• Selection is based on merit and financial eligibility.
• Financial eligibility is dependent upon the Total Cost of Attendance at MSU. Recipients total aid package shall not exceed TCOA. 
• The merit eligibility requirement is a 2.5 cumulative grade point average.

Other Information

• Scholarships are up to $1,000 for the academic year. (Up to $500 for the fall semester and up to $500 for the spring semester.)
• Scholarships are not applicable for summer or winter term.
• The university scholarship committee will select the recipients for the scholarship.
• The Alumni Family Scholarship assists as many full-time undergraduate students as possible. Due to limited funds, all applying students may not receive the award. The application opens annually in January and students are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline of March 15. Final application deadline is June 30 or as long as funding is available.

Renewal Requirements

• The Alumni Family Scholarship award is not automatically renewable. Students must reapply annually. The scholarship application opens in January and the priority deadline is March 15. Scholarship applications will continue to be accepted through June 15 or as long as scholarship funds are available.
• Students may be considered for the Alumni Family Scholarship for 8 semesters total. 

Completing the MSU Alumni Association and MSU Foundation Online Scholarship Application annually helps ensure that students are being considered for maximum potential financial aid. The MSU Foundation, thanks to the support of alumni and donors, provides nearly 400 scholarship opportunities, totaling nearly $1 million in annual funding, to students each year.

Funding for the Alumni Family Scholarship Program is provided through the University scholarship budget and the Alumni Family Fund. The Alumni Family Fund helps grow the number of Alumni Family Scholars we can support each year.
