'Mesmerica' to be shown at Star Theater

A world-renowned, award-winning planetarium show is coming to Morehead State's Star Theater later this month.

"Mesmerica" is an immersive audio-visual experience that incorporates 3D animations with the music of the show's creator, composer James Hood. Suitable for families, the show is explicitly designed to promote deep relaxation in audiences, weaving together musical soundscapes with animated 3D art curated from artists around the world.

“The power of immersive music and art is like no other art form, it has the ability to create unique moods and brain states, and we’re so thrilled and honored to be able to showcase this full-dome presentation in such wonderful venues,” said Hood.

Dr. Pamela Clark, director of the Star Theater, said she’s excited to bring a new experience to campus.

"It’s a different kind of show from what we usually offer,” said Clark. “It is beautiful and very relaxing. It has a lot of animations of nature. It’s been successful at other planetaria in the area, and I’m happy to provide a venue for anything that gets people out to experience something different and beautiful.”

The first shows will be Friday and Saturday, Feb 16 and 17. The Star Theater will screen the show twice a month on Fridays and Saturdays through February and March.

Friday shows will be at:

  • 5 p.m.

Saturday shows will be at:
