Enjoy the holidays with Morehead State’s Star Theater

This December, holiday magic meets science and storytelling at the Star Theater inside the Space Science Center at Morehead State University. On Saturday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, the planetarium will present a full afternoon of seasonal programs.

Programming begins with “Star of Bethlehem” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. EST (25 minutes). This immersive audiovisual program transports audiences to ancient Bethlehem to investigate the mystery of the Star that guided the Wise Men.

From 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., audiences are invited to enjoy the “Season of Light” (35 minutes). Viewers will tour northern winter constellations, learn why Earth experiences seasons, and examine possible astronomical explanations for the Star of Bethlehem. The program is narrated by Noah Adams from National Public Radio.

The afternoon concludes with the popular “Laser Holidays” show from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring vibrant full-dome laser displays, a planetarium movie, and a live guided tour of the night sky inside the Star Theater.

Tickets are available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Adults are $10; children ages five and up, seniors, and MSU students, faculty, and staff are $5; and children four and under are admitted free. Payment is accepted by cash or check only; no reservations are required.
