MSU Board of Regents to meet Aug. 7

The Morehead State University Board of Regents will hold its quarterly meeting at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, in Room 329 of the Adron Doran University Center. The Board of Regents Audit Committee has a meeting at 9:30 a.m., and the Board of Regents Ad-Hoc By-Laws Committee has a meeting at 9:35 a.m.

During the regular meeting, new regents will take the oath of office, and the Board will elect its officers for the coming year.

Regents will recognize outstanding members of the University community, including student Brady Adkins, a computer science major from West Liberty; faculty member Stephanie Akers (Class of 2014), director of the Educational Unit for Child Care Services and Master of Arts in Teaching coordinator; and staff member Megan Duff, director of SOAR.

Agenda items include approval of the minutes from the June 12 meeting, ratification of personnel actions and spring graduates, faculty sabbaticals and emeritus status, a new academic certificate, an honorary doctorate, revisions to the Student Code of Conduct Handbook, and updates to the University's Emergency Operations Plan.

The Board is also expected to enter a closed executive session pursuant to KRS 61.810(b) to discuss matters relating to the future disposition of real estate. No action will be taken during the closed session.

Additional items include consideration of proposed changes to the Board of Regents bylaws, approval of asset preservation projects and a campus utility and infrastructure capital project.

The meeting will also feature presentations on employee health insurance for 2027, performance funding, and the University's annual initiatives, as well as the President's Report.

Following the meeting, regents will take part in a campus tour and then attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Prefontaine Hall at 12:30 p.m.
