Career Services for Faculty & Staff
The goal of faculty, staff and Career Services is student success. By working together, we can ensure that the transition from student to member of the workforce is as seamless as possible.
Think of the path our students take to their professional careers as a camping trip. Our faculty does an outstanding job of "filling the students' backpacks" with the knowledge and practical skills they need to thrive once they reach their destination. At MSU Career Services, we provide maps and compasses and serve as guides for students conducting their career exploration and job search.
How can we help you to help them? Below are some of our services for faculty and staff.

Career Services keeps a database of employer contacts to use as speakers, mentors, and possible internship/job employers.
The Center houses a library of books on topics such as jobs for specific majors, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, etiquette, job search etc. Most books may be checked out of the library. Salary information for recent college graduates is also available.
If you are a student employment supervisor, you are encouraged to post your institutional and federal student employment positions on Eagle CareerNet. Students can search for positions and apply directly to you. Refer students that are interested in a position to CareerNet.
InterviewLink, our online mock interview software, can be a valuable tool for professors who would like to offer mock interviews as a classroom assignment. Working with Career Services, you will create your question set from a database of over 7,000 pre-recorded questions (or we can record your own!)
Faculty are invited to take an active role in advancing Morehead State University’s commitment to civic and community engagement through participation in the March to Service. This institutional initiative highlights the integration of service learning across all academic disciplines by encouraging each program to lead at least one project during March—or beyond—that connects students’ academic learning to the needs and strengths of our surrounding communities.
Faculty who are planning or leading a service-learning or community-based project are encouraged to submit project details using the provided link, including any specific needs such as financial support, publicity assistance, or logistical coordination. Early submission is strongly recommended, as funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
March to Service aligns with Morehead State’s engagement in the Kentucky Graduate Profile, which emphasizes ten essential skills identified by employers as critical for success after graduation. Through this initiative, students apply disciplinary knowledge in real-world settings, strengthening both professional competencies and civic responsibility. The initiative’s associated Student Learning Outcome states: Students will, through reflective prompts, express value for personal involvement in discipline-related service for the mutually beneficial improvement of society, gaining the skills for lifelong civic engagement.
This work directly supports the Graduate Profile’s definition of Civic Engagement: Engaging in civic life to improve society—graduates will, throughout their college careers, learn from opportunities to engage in political, social, and other activities that address issues benefiting society.
Interactive workshops, often with employer guests, are offered throughout the regular Spring and Fall semesters. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members are welcome. There is no charge for the workshops and registration is not necessary.
The Center for Career Development & Experiential Education has a centralized career management system we call Eagle CareerNet. This system allows students to upload their resume and other job search documents to be viewed by potential employers. All internships, seasonal, part time, full time, and student employment positions will be posted on this system. Students do not pay a fee for this service, but they must agree to a student code of conduct when participating in on-campus recruiting and interacting with our employers.
The system also manages employer contact information and allows the Center to send email messages quickly to hundreds of employer contacts. Students will have access to employer contact information to address cover letters or do informational interviews.
Faculty should refer employers to post their internships and jobs on Eagle CareerNet. It is easy! Refer them to the Center for Center for Career Development & Experiential Education website at: www.moreheadstate.edu/career.
It is important that faculty and staff encourage students to take responsibility for their career development and utilize our resources. Students should be encouraged to do internships to build professional skills to complement their coursework and make them marketable to employers.
