Canvas Migration Timeline
Morehead State University is transitioning from Blackboard to Canvas as the university’s learning management system. The transition is being implemented in phases to allow time for training, course preparation, and system configuration. This timeline is tentative and may be adjusted as the Canvas transition progresses.
- Canvas access is provided to faculty and staff.
- Instructor sandbox courses are available for exploration and training.
- Self-paced training and live professional learning sessions begin.
- Faculty may begin familiarizing themselves with Canvas tools and features.
- Faculty may request migration of eligible Blackboard courses into Canvas.
- Migrated courses should be reviewed and adjusted before being used for teaching.
- The MSU Canvas course template will be released to support a consistent course structure.
- Additional training sessions and support opportunities will continue.
- Faculty finalize course materials and the Canvas course structure.
- Additional migration requests and course adjustments may be completed.
- Continued training and support will be available.
- Canvas becomes the primary learning management system for MSU courses.
- Faculty and students will access courses through Canvas.
- Ongoing support and training will continue throughout the transition.
