The Art Leadership Scholarship is offered to entering freshman art majors. Applicants must submit a portfolio of work to be reviewed at the annual High School Art Day event.  

  • Portfolio of 8 to 10 art pieces completed within the last two years (include examples of more than one medium; Digital portfolios must include a list of artworks and media)  
  • Two Letters of recommendation, one of which should be from an art teacher or other teacher familiar with your work  
  • Written statement of your reasons for wanting to major in art at MSU (attach to application) 
  • High school transcript 
  • Completed application form  

Applicants must bring application materials to High School Art Day at Claypool-Young Art Building. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Application deadline is March 1.

Amount= $250 per semester.

The Communication Enrichment Scholarship is for students in the Department of Communication

Applicant must be a communication major.

Overview
The W. David Brown Scholarship is for juniors or seniors majoring in communication. Preference is given to students majoring in journalism. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be a communication major.
  • Applicant must be junior or senior.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Erica Brown Memorial Endowment is for students interested in creative writing and the fine arts (preference given to students from MSU's primary service region). Recipients must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and maintain overall satisfactory scholastic standing.

 

Overview
The F. S. Brown Scholarship is for juniors or seniors majoring in Strategic Communication. Recipients shall be enrolled as full-time students.

The Harlan Hamm Scholarship is for juniors or seniors majoring in strategic communication. Recipients must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

Scholarship for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in art. Preference will be given to students who reside in the following areas (in order of preference):

  • Rowan and Elliott counties
  • Fayette County
  • Commonwealth of Kentucky

The application deadline is May 1.

Amount = $7,000.

View Scholarship

Applicants must pursue a degree in convergent media and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA. Preference is given to students who work or volunteer at Morehead State Public Radio - WMKY 90.3FM.

Applicants must be full-time students majoring in art and design. Preference is given to students with an emphasis on graphic design, and second preference for students with an emphasis on painting. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or above. The scholarship is a one-year award and is not renewable.
