RESEARCH AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Involvement in academic research and internships can be a valuable asset because it gives you practical, real-world skills before you graduate, giving you an advantage as you enter a competitive job market.

LEARNING RESOURCES

Whether you need help charting the course of your academic career or help studying for a big exam, MSU and the Department of Mathematics offer a number of resources to help you succeed.

  • College of Science Student Services Center: The College of Science, which includes the Department of Mathematics, offers dedicated academic advisors to help guide students toward success.
  • Tutoring and Learning Center: The MSU Tutoring and Learning Center, located in the Camden-Carroll Library, offers help in virtually every subject. Students can get help with assignments, test preparation, developing good study habits, and more.
  • Faculty and Staff: Faculty members in the department are committed to helping students succeed and can meet with you during their office hours to discuss any issues you may be having in a specific class.

CAREER RESOURCES

Graduates of our department go on to pursue successful careers in various fields. The University offers several resources to help graduates find employment after graduation, including the Level UP program, internships, and education abroad.

Occupational Outlook Handbook: Published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Occupational Outlook Handbook contains information about average salaries, job descriptions, employment forecasts, and more for various career fields.

Center for Career Development and Experiential Education: MSU's CCDEE offers students from all departments opportunities to hone their research and resume writing skills, a suit bank to help students dress for success, career counseling, job search coaching, and more.
