Admission to leadership in medical imaging

The Leadership in Medical Imaging program has a selective admission process separate from and in addition to admission to MSU. Admission to the University does not guarantee admission into the LMI program.

  • Unconditional acceptance to Morehead State University through the Office of Admissions. MSU admission requirements.  
  • Graduate of a programmatically accredited program (radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy). Non-programmatic accredited programs will be reviewed on an individual basis.  
  • Completion of the following 15 credit hours of pre-requisite courses:  
    CIS 101 - Computer Literacy, three (3) hours.  
    COMS 108 - Fundamentals of Speech Communications, three (3) hours. 
    ENG 100 - Writing I, three (3) hours. 
    ENG 200 - Writing II, three (3) hours. 
    MATH 131 - Mathematical Reasoning & Problem Solving or Higher, three (3) hours. 
  • Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on all coursework required for admission to the program.  
  • Registered and in good standing by a respective certification agency, for example, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). 
  • Leadership in Medical Imaging Application and Checklist 

Applications will be accepted beginning in January for the fall semester and must be received by July 15. Applications will be accepted beginning in August for the spring semester and must be received by Dec. 15. Late applications may be considered until the cohort is filled.  

  1. Submit a complete application packet with the following required materials:  
  1. Imaging Sciences Admission Application designating the leadership in medical imaging online program.  
  1. Official transcripts documenting all courses required for admission.    
  1. Copy of course description(s) if course equivalencies are not listed on MSU's transfer credit webpage.    
  1. Copy of current certification card, for example, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

The Leadership in Medical Imaging program, in conjunction with the department and University's mission, is committed to preparing graduates to function as competent leaders in the imaging sciences profession and to provide a pathway for continued lifetime learning in imaging sciences.

GOALS

  1. Students integrate methods of leadership, management, teaching/learning, and healthcare regulations into professional practice.
  2. Students employ critical thinking and communication skills in the practice of imaging sciences.

STUDENT LEARNER OUTCOMES:

  1. Students evaluate leadership methods.  
  2. Students analyze management methods.  
  3. Students compare methods of teaching/learning.  
  4. Students discuss healthcare regulation methods.
