Education Abroad

Gain experience and perspective by studying at an international university or completing an internship abroad.

Experience the World

Studying abroad expands your horizons—literally. You’ll discover new cultures, cities, and scenery but also a new sense of what’s possible.

Thanks to Morehead State’s collaborative exchange agreements and consortia memberships, you can earn credit for most academic experiences abroad. Study at an international university for a few weeks in the summer, winter, or spring. Or spend a full semester or even a whole year overseas.

Study-abroad scholarships or other financial aid can help cover your costs.

Make Your Plan to Study Abroad

With dozens of destinations, short- and long-term schedules, and scholarships available, there’s a study abroad option for virtually every student. To make your plan:

  1. Explore available programs.
  2. Consult resources about international travel, health, and other considerations.
  3. Apply for a scholarship.
  4. Complete our student interest form if you’re pursuing an international internship.
  5. Fulfill requirements for Morehead State travelers—see below.

Talk to us if you have questions at any point in the planning process.

Requirements for Travelers

If you’re a Morehead State student planning to study abroad, complete the information form for education abroad participants and return it to educationabroad@moreheadstate.edu at least two months before you depart.

You’ll also need to register with the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). You’ll need your passport number to create an account and enroll. Add a trip for every international destination.

STEP provides info about the nearest embassies and consulates for your destinations, plus updates on anything that might affect your travels. Lead faculty registering in STEP should list MSU’s education abroad director as an emergency contact.
