Undergraduate students who wish to receive two bachelor's degrees simultaneously (i.e., double degree) must satisfactorily complete the regularly prescribed requirements of both degree programs. A minimum of 30 additional credit hours in residence for the second degree must be completed (e.g. if the first degree requires 120 credit hours, a minimum of 150 hours must be completed).
When completing two bachelor’s degrees simultaneously, a student can choose one of the following options:
- Pursue two programs that are both Areas.
- Pursue one program that is an Area and one program that is a Major (no minor is required).
- Pursue two programs that are both Majors. One Major must include a Minor that is different from the second Major.
Students who wish to pursue a double degree should work with the dean’s office where their program is housed. No more than two bachelor's degrees may be awarded simultaneously.
To apply for two bachelor’s degrees, the student must submit an application for each degree. This will ensure that the student receives two printed diplomas. If the student only sees one degree when applying for graduation in Self-Service, please email graduation@moreheadstate.edu or call 606-783-5244 before submitting your application so that your program can be updated to reflect the double degree.
You indicate how you want your name to be printed on your diploma when you apply for graduation. The first and last name on your diploma must be the legal name that is listed in MSU’s database. Middle names are optional on the diploma and a middle initial may be used in place of a full middle name.
Undergraduate diplomas display your legal name, degree, major or area and honors (if applicable). Minors and second majors or areas are not shown on your diploma, but they will be on your official transcript.
Example:
John Doe
Elmer R. Smith College of Business and Technology
Bachelor of Business Administration
Finance
