What you'll learn in the Equine Science program

You'll learn about the many facets of the equine industry, from animal care to breeding. You'll get hands-on experience with live horses at our 325-acre farm, the Derrickson Agricultural Complex. You can even board your own horses at the farm or choose to work with horses from MSU's stable.  

What you can do with an equine science degree

You'll be prepared for a career in the equine industry as a stable manager, show manager, camp manager, riding instructor, equestrian team coach, farm manager, equine trainer, horse judging, sales, and with government agencies.

Research Opportunities

Morehead State students have numerous opportunities to actively participate in academic research as early as their freshman year through our Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program.

What makes Morehead state's program different

We offer hands-on training at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex. You'll gain real-world experience working with horses while you receive instruction from faculty members with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

To enroll in the Equine Science program, you must first be admitted to Morehead State University.
