New Multidisciplinary Academic Building
This 120,000-square-foot facility will house the business administration and music programs.
Update: Fall 2025
Construction began in August, and an official groundbreaking was held at Homecoming in October. Site preparation has been completed, and crews are now working on the new facility.
About the Building
Located along University Boulevard, directly across from Baird Music Hall, the new building will extend toward Main Street and the former Brass Eagle location. Construction on the 120,000-square-foot facility is underway and is expected to be completed in Spring 2028. Upon completion, this facility will replace Bert T. Combs Building and Baird Music Hall. It is funded by a $90 million capital investment approved by the Kentucky General Assembly in the 2022–24 biennial budget.
MSU constructed the Bert T. Combs Building in 1962 and partially renovated it in 2003. The University named the four-story classroom and office building in honor of former Gov. Bert T. Combs.
Built in 1954 and expanded in 1967, Baird Music Hall is a three-story classroom and office building named in honor of Dr. William Jesse Baird, the University's fifth president. It includes Duncan Recital Hall and Fulbright Auditorium.
