Continued investment in student success and campus vitality took a major step forward this month as the Morehead State University Board of Regents approved a series of infrastructure initiatives at its June meeting. These initiatives include the construction of a third new residence hall and the planned decommissioning of two aging campus buildings.

The New Residence Hall #3 will be approximately 40,000 square feet and include 80+ beds arranged as 2-person private-bedroom micro-apartments with a single shared restroom. The site is anticipated to be on the MSU main campus and has all utilities readily available. The total anticipated project budget is $20 million.

The new residence hall will complement two other residential facilities, Prefontaine Hall and Martin Hall, which are currently under construction. Prefontaine Hall is scheduled to open in Fall 2026, and Martin Hall in 2027. The third new residence hall will open in 2028-29.
